Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist of this one. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril). In lab studies, bacopa may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, cyclobenzaprine could hang around longer and build up, which might mean more of its usual effects, like drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and feeling foggy or unusually sleepy.

The honest part: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, and even that evidence is mixed. It may not matter at all in everyday use. Still, since both can make you sleepy on their own, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you'll be driving.

If that happened in real life, cyclobenzaprine could hang around longer and feel stronger, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or grogginess than usual.

I want to keep this in perspective, though. This concern comes only from lab research, and even that evidence is mixed, with some studies suggesting bacopa won't matter much at all. So this is more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Since cyclobenzaprine already makes a lot of people sleepy, just mention to your pharmacist or doctor that you take bacopa, and watch for extra drowsiness.

What Is Cyclobenzaprine Used For?

Brand names: Cyclobenzaprine, Flexeril, Cycloprine

Cyclobenzaprine tablets and extended-release capsules are used alongside rest and physical therapy to relieve muscle spasm caused by acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions — easing pain, tenderness, and limited movement. This use is intended for short-term treatment only (up to 2–3 weeks).

Tonmya, the sublingual (under-the-tongue) form of cyclobenzaprine, is separately indicated for the treatment of fibromyalgia in adults. It is not the same as the oral tablet or capsule formulations.
