Fluvoxamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the basic idea: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear fluvoxamine. In lab dish studies, bacopa appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, fluvoxamine could build up slightly, which might mean more of its usual side effects like nausea, drowsiness, headache, trouble sleeping, or jitteriness.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is theoretical and based only on test-tube research, and even those studies disagree with each other. Some suggest no meaningful effect at all. So this is more a 'good to know' than a red alert. Still, if you take fluvoxamine for OCD or social anxiety, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor before starting bacopa, just to be safe.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Both fluvoxamine maleate tablets and Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) — a condition marked by unwanted, recurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that cause significant distress or interfere with daily life.

Fluvoxamine maleate tablets are approved for adults and for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17. Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved for adults with OCD; their use in pediatric patients naive to fluvoxamine requires special prescriber consideration regarding the lowest available dose.
