Infigratinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the situation with bacopa and your infigratinib (Truseltiq). Infigratinib is cleared from your body largely by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab studies, bacopa appears to mildly slow that same enzyme. If it does, infigratinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which in theory might mean more of its known side effects, like eye and vision changes, high phosphate levels, diarrhea, dry mouth, fatigue, or sore mouth.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal data, and even those results disagree. Still, with a serious cancer drug like this, I'd rather you not guess. Please run any bacopa supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist before starting it.

  • Infigratinib is used in adults who have received previous therapy to treat a certain type of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) that has spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body and cannot be removed by surgery. Infigratinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
