Your patch (Ortho Evra) delivers two active hormones, norelgestromin and ethinyl estradiol, that work as-is, so there's no prodrug activation to worry about here. The theory on file is that bacopa might mildly slow one liver enzyme (CYP1A2) that helps process certain drugs. If that happened, hormone levels could drift a little higher, which in theory might mean more of the usual estrogen-type effects like nausea, breast tenderness, or headaches.

Honestly though, this is a very weak signal. It comes only from lab studies, and even those disagree about whether bacopa does anything meaningful. Ethinyl estradiol is handled mostly by other pathways too. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but mention your bacopa to your pharmacist or doctor just to be safe.

Your Ortho Evra patch delivers two active hormones, ethinyl estradiol and norelgestromin, and your body partly clears the estrogen portion through an enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, bacopa has shown a mild ability to slow that same enzyme. If that happened in the body, hormone levels could nudge a little higher, which in theory might mean more of the usual estrogen-related effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or spotting.

Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube and animal studies, and the lab results actually conflict. There's no real evidence it causes problems in people, and it should not make your birth control less effective. Still, if you take bacopa regularly, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor.
