Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for your HIV regimen: bacopa may, in theory, slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Since tipranavir (Aptivus) is one of the medications that enzyme helps process, blocking it could let a bit more tipranavir build up in your blood. In plain terms, that might mean a higher chance of side effects like nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, or changes in your liver tests.
But I want to keep this in perspective. This concern comes only from lab studies, and even that evidence is mixed, with some research suggesting no meaningful effect in people. It's not a proven, real-world problem. Still, because keeping your HIV treatment steady matters so much, please check with your pharmacist or HIV doctor before adding bacopa.

In vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. It is not known whether this is clinically significant.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for tipranavir (Aptivus). Bacopa, in lab dish studies only, seems to mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C19, which helps clear certain medicines. Tipranavir is an active drug (not a prodrug), so if that enzyme is slowed, the worry is that tipranavir could build up a bit, possibly leading to more side effects like nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, or tiredness.
That said, this is very much a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not real patient data. Tipranavir is mainly handled by other pathways too, so bacopa's effect may be small or none at all. Since tipranavir is a serious HIV medicine, please run any supplement past your pharmacist or HIV provider before starting it, and never adjust your dose on your own.

Here's the short version: bacopa might slow down one of the liver enzymes (CYP2C9) that helps clear tipranavir from your body. Tipranavir is an active drug, not a prodrug, so if that enzyme gets blocked, the medication could build up a little higher than usual. In theory, that might mean more of tipranavir's typical side effects, like nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, or changes in your liver labs.
Now, the honest part: this concern comes only from lab and test-tube studies, and even those disagree with each other. We don't have real-world cases showing a problem. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since HIV therapy is too important to gamble with, please run any bacopa supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: your body clears tipranavir partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab and animal studies, bacopa has shown a possible ability to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, tipranavir could build up a bit more than expected, which in theory might mean more of its usual side effects, things like nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, tiredness, or changes in liver tests.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. What Is Tipranavir Used For?
Brand name: Aptivus
Aptivus (tipranavir) is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and in pediatric patients weighing at least 36 kg (about 79 lbs). It is specifically for people who have already tried other HIV treatments and whose virus has become resistant to more than one protease inhibitor. It is always taken together with a low dose of ritonavir and with other HIV medications.
Aptivus is not recommended for people who have never taken HIV treatment before (treatment-naïve patients). Using tipranavir alongside additional active HIV drugs improves the chances of it working well.
