Animal studies suggest that cajeput oil might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking cajeput oil with antidiabetes drugs could increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, and others.

Here's the gist with cajeput oil and your insulin. In animal studies, cajeput oil appeared to lower blood sugar on its own. Insulin already does a powerful job of pulling sugar out of your blood, so the worry is that the two together could push your levels too low (hypoglycemia). That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, confusion, or feeling suddenly very hungry.

I want to keep this in perspective. The evidence here is only lab and animal data, so it's a theoretical concern, not something proven in people. If you do use cajeput oil, check your blood sugar a little more often at first and let your doctor or pharmacist know, especially before changing anything about your insulin.

Novolin (human insulin injection) is used to improve glycemic control — meaning blood sugar management — in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.

Novolin 70/30 is a fixed-ratio mixture of intermediate-acting and short-acting human insulin. Because the ratio is fixed, it cannot be adjusted separately for background (basal) or mealtime (prandial) needs.
