Oxycodone Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cajeput Oil interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that cajeput leaf extract can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) by approximately 30%. Theoretically, cajeput oil may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the thing about oxycodone and CYP2D6: this enzyme turns part of your oxycodone into oxymorphone, a more potent active form. The lab data suggests cajeput oil might block CYP2D6 by about 30 percent, so in theory it could slightly reduce how much oxymorphone you make. In practice, though, oxycodone still works mainly through its own pain-relieving activity and a second enzyme (CYP3A4), so this small CYP2D6 effect is unlikely to make a big difference for most people.

I want to be honest: this comes only from test-tube research, not human studies, so the real-world impact is uncertain. Smelling or carefully diluted skin use is far less concerning than swallowing the oil, which you should never do. If you use cajeput oil regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.
