Amitriptyline, Chlordiazepoxide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Cascara Sagrada interacts with.

Theoretically, cascara sagrada might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that cascara sagrada can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Limbitrol DS combines amitriptyline (an antidepressant) with chlordiazepoxide (a calming benzodiazepine). Both are partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The concern here is that cascara sagrada might gently speed up that enzyme, which could clear these medicines a little faster and, in theory, make them work less well. So you might notice the mood-lifting or anti-anxiety benefits dipping rather than getting stronger. Neither drug is a prodrug, so this isn't about a missing active form.

Honestly, this is a minor flag based only on lab research, not real patients, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger practical issue with cascara is its short-term laxative use and risk of cramping and dehydration. If you take Limbitrol regularly, just run any cascara use past your pharmacist or doctor first.
