Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with these two together. Your body clears Voxelotor (Oxbryta) mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Devil's claw, in lab studies, appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that effect held true in people, your body might break Voxelotor down more slowly, letting it build up a bit. Voxelotor is the active drug itself (not a prodrug), so higher levels could mean more of its usual side effects, things like headache, nausea, diarrhea, or belly pain.

The important part: this is only seen in test-tube research, never confirmed in humans, so it's theoretical. I wouldn't panic over it, but since this medicine matters for your sickle cell care, please run devil's claw by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Oxbryta (voxelotor) is approved to treat sickle cell disease (SCD) in adults and in children as young as 4 years old. It works by targeting the underlying problem in sickle cell disease — the abnormal hemoglobin that causes red blood cells to take on a rigid, sickle shape.

This approval was granted under the FDA's accelerated approval pathway, based on the drug's ability to raise hemoglobin levels. Continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory clinical trials showing broader clinical benefit.
