Bosutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the situation with these two. Bosutinib (Bosulif) is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There's some early, fairly thin evidence that DHEA might slow that enzyme down. If it does, your body could clear Bosutinib a little less efficiently, so the drug might build up more than expected.

With a chemotherapy drug like this, higher levels can mean stronger side effects, things like diarrhea, nausea, belly pain, liver enzyme changes, low blood counts, or fluid retention. I want to be honest though: this interaction is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal data, so we don't really know how much it matters in real life. Since Bosutinib is a serious cancer medicine, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding DHEA.

About Bosutinib

What Is Bosutinib Used For?

Brand name: Bosulif

Bosutinib is used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (Ph+ CML) — a type of blood cancer. It can be used for newly diagnosed patients or for those whose cancer has stopped responding to, or who cannot tolerate, a prior treatment.

Bosulif (the brand-name product) is approved for adults and children 1 year and older with chronic phase Ph+ CML, and for adults with accelerated phase or blast phase Ph+ CML that is resistant or intolerant to prior therapy. Generic bosutinib tablets are approved for adults only with the same range of disease phases.
