Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Rauzide is a combination pill, and the part that matters here is bendroflumethiazide, a thiazide-type water pill. Thiazides already tend to lower your body's sodium, and DIM has been linked, in a couple of cases at high doses (around 600 mg a day), to low sodium too. So the concern is that pairing them could nudge your sodium down a bit further. This is mostly a theoretical worry, and the reported cases didn't even cause symptoms.

Still, if sodium drops enough, you might notice headache, tiredness, muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea, or feeling foggy. I wouldn't panic over this, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting DIM. They can simply keep an eye on your sodium level, especially if you're using a larger supplement dose.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bendroflumethiazide, Rauwolfia Serpentina page

“Rauzide combines two blood-pressure medicines, the thiazide diuretic bendroflumethiazide and rauwolfia serpentina, so anything that also lowers pressure, pulls off fluid, or shifts electrolytes lands on already sensitive ground. This page warrants real caution.”

About Diindolylmethane

What is Diindolylmethane?

Diindolylmethane
  • Estrogen/hormone balance
  • Acne and hormonal skin issues
  • Prostate health support
  • Cancer-risk reduction (unproven)
  • PMS and menopause symptoms
  • General 'detox' support

Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound made when your body digests cruciferous vegetables, and it is sold as a supplement mainly for hormone balance and cancer prevention. Although early lab studies look interesting, strong human evidence is lacking for most of these uses. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before taking DIM, especially if you have a hormone-sensitive condition.
