Why this applies to Propafenone

Propafenone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Diindolylmethane interacts with.

Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for propafenone (Rythmol). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 as one way to clear this drug. In test-tube studies, DIM appears to speed up that enzyme. In theory, that could move propafenone out of your system a little faster and lower its blood levels, which might make it work less well at keeping your heart rhythm steady.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes only from lab studies, not real people, and it's rated minor and unlikely. Because propafenone is a heart rhythm medication where steady levels matter, I'd still loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding DIM, rather than changing anything on your own.

Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound made when your body digests cruciferous vegetables, and it is sold as a supplement mainly for hormone balance and cancer prevention. Although early lab studies look interesting, strong human evidence is lacking for most of these uses. About Propafenone

What Is Propafenone Used For?

Brand names: Rythmol, Arythmol

Propafenone is used to help control abnormal heart rhythms. It is prescribed to delay the return of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (episodic irregular heartbeats in the upper chambers) and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT, sudden fast heartbeats starting above the heart's lower chambers) — but only in people who do not have structural heart disease.

It is also used to treat life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (dangerous fast rhythms starting in the heart's lower chambers). Because of serious safety concerns, it is not recommended for minor or non-life-threatening heart rhythm problems.
