Here's the gist: your blood pressure pill contains hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill that pushes sodium out through your urine. DIM, taken in larger supplement doses, has been linked in a couple of cases to low blood sodium (a condition called hyponatremia). Because both can nudge sodium down, taking them together might add up and lower your sodium a bit more than the medication alone would.

I want to be honest that this is mostly theoretical and based on just two cases at high doses (around 600 mg daily). Still, if you notice headache, nausea, confusion, muscle cramps, or feeling unusually weak or dizzy, those can be signs of low sodium worth reporting. Please don't stop either one on your own. Just chat with your pharmacist or doctor first, and they can check your sodium with a simple blood test if needed.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
