Bijuva combines estradiol (an estrogen) with progesterone, and it is taken to ease menopause symptoms like hot flashes. The concern here is mostly on paper. DIM can act a little like estrogen in some situations and a little against it in others, so in theory it could nudge your hormone replacement either way. We honestly cannot predict the direction for any one person.

If DIM tipped things toward less estrogen effect, you might notice hot flashes or night sweats creeping back. If it nudged the other way, you could see more estrogen-type effects like breast tenderness or spotting. Keep in mind this is theoretical and tied to concentrated supplement doses, not the cruciferous veggies on your plate. Before adding DIM, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES

Estradiol, Progesterone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Bijuva (estradiol plus progesterone) and DIM. In test-tube studies, DIM seems to speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the pathways your liver uses to break down estradiol. If that enzyme runs faster, your body could clear the hormones a little quicker, which in theory might make your hormone therapy work a bit less well. That could show up as a return of symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, or sleep trouble.

The important part: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, not something seen in real people, and it's rated minor and unlikely. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since you're on hormone therapy, it's worth a quick word with your doctor or pharmacist before adding DIM.
