Here's the deal with combining DIM and your birth control pill (Microgynon or Logynon, which is ethinyl estradiol plus levonorgestrel). DIM is known to nudge how your body processes estrogen, and it can act a little estrogen-like or anti-estrogen-like depending on the situation. In theory, taking large supplement doses alongside your pill could slightly shift the hormone balance the pill is built to keep steady.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how DIM behaves in the lab, not proven cases in people. Eating broccoli or cabbage won't matter, but concentrated DIM capsules are a different story. Since your pill works by keeping hormone levels reliable for contraception, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding DIM.

Ethiny Estradiol, Levonorgestrel also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your birth control pill (Logynon or Microgynon 30 ED). DIM has been shown in test-tube studies to speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one pathway your body uses to break down estrogen. In theory, that could clear the hormones a little faster and nudge their blood levels down. If that happened, you might see breakthrough spotting, and in a worst-case scenario, slightly less reliable pregnancy protection.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a lab-dish idea and has never actually been reported in people, so the real-world risk looks small. Estrogen also goes through other pathways, not just CYP1A2. Still, because we're talking about contraception, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding DIM.
