This combination pill contains codeine, an opioid that calms and slows down your brain and breathing. GHB does the very same thing through its effect on the brain's GABA system. When you stack two central nervous system depressants like these, the slowing-down effects can pile on top of each other. That can mean heavy drowsiness, confusion, very slow or shallow breathing, and in a worst-case situation, you could stop breathing or fall into a coma.

Even though this warning leans on real-world reports rather than large studies, the risk is taken seriously because both substances depress breathing. To be clear, GHB sold outside of a prescription is not a safe supplement at all. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything like this.

What is Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb)?

  • Alcohol withdrawal (in some countries)

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.
