Goji + Fluvastatin
Fluvastatin brand names: Lescol, Lescol XL.
Goji has a moderate interaction with Fluvastatin. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2C9 and reduce metabolism of CYP2C9 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Fluvastatin
Fluvastatin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C9 enzymes. Additionally, multiple case reports suggest that goji berry concentrated tea and juice inhibit the metabolism of warfarin, a CYP2C9 substrate. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body clears fluvastatin mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Goji berry may slow that enzyme down a bit. If it does, fluvastatin could hang around longer and build up, which can nudge up the chance of typical statin side effects like muscle aches, weakness, or rarely liver irritation. Fluvastatin is already active (it's not a prodrug), so more of it in your system simply means a stronger effect.
I want to keep this in perspective, though. The evidence here is thin, mostly lab studies and a few warfarin reports, not solid human data on fluvastatin. An occasional handful of goji berries as food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated goji juice, tea, or capsules are where I'd be cautious. If you use those regularly, just run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Fluvastatin
What Is Fluvastatin Used For?
Brand names: Lescol, Lescol XL
Fluvastatin capsules are used alongside diet to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B, and to raise HDL cholesterol in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) or mixed dyslipidemia (abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels). Fluvastatin capsules are also used in boys and girls aged 10–16 who have heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (an inherited form of high cholesterol) when diet alone has not worked. In adults with clinically evident coronary heart disease (CHD), fluvastatin capsules may reduce the risk of needing a coronary revascularization procedure (a procedure to restore blood flow, such as angioplasty) and can slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in heart arteries).
Fluvastatin sodium extended-release tablets and Lescol XL (extended-release tablet) share similar uses: reducing LDL cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia, reducing LDL in adults and children aged 10 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who require the highest available dose, and reducing cardiovascular risk in adults with established coronary heart disease. Fluvastatin is always used together with a cholesterol-lowering diet, not as a replacement for one.

Fluvastatin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Fluvastatin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
