Dexlansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Green Tea interacts with.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Here's the good news on pairing your morning green tea with Dexilant (dexlansoprazole): this is a very mild, mostly theoretical concern. In lab and animal tests, green tea has shown some ability to nudge the CYP3A4 enzyme one way or another, and dexlansoprazole is partly handled by that enzyme. But in actual human studies, green tea doesn't seem to meaningfully change how this enzyme works.

So whether you sip a few cups a day or take a regular dose of your acid reducer, you're very unlikely to notice any real difference in how well it controls your heartburn or reflux, and no extra side effects are expected. If you take a concentrated green tea extract, just mention it to your pharmacist, mainly because of liver concerns, not this enzyme issue.

What Is Dexlansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Dexilant Solutab

Dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules — sold as Dexilant and available as a generic — are used in patients 12 years of age and older to heal erosive esophagitis (EE), which is damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid. They are also used to keep that damage healed and relieve heartburn over time.

In addition, dexlansoprazole treats heartburn from non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) — that is, acid reflux that causes symptoms without visible damage to the esophagus. Both Dexilant and generic dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules share these same approved uses.
