Alogliptin, Metformin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Gymnema interacts with.

Theoretically, taking gymnema with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Gymnema reduces blood glucose levels in some human and animal research. In human studies, it has been shown to enhance the blood glucose lowering effects of hypoglycemic drugs. However, other research in adults with prediabetes or metabolic syndrome suggests that gymnema does not reduce fasting levels of blood glucose. Until more is known, monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the simple version: Kazano (alogliptin plus metformin) lowers your blood sugar, and gymnema may nudge it down a little further too. When you stack two blood-sugar-lowering effects, the worry is that your numbers could dip too low. Some human research suggests gymnema adds to the glucose-lowering punch of diabetes medicines, though other studies showed no real change, so this isn't a sure thing.

What that could feel like: shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, confusion, or sudden hunger. If you want to try gymnema, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor first and check your blood sugar more often at the start. Don't change your Kazano dose on your own.
