Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP2C19. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

This Prevpac combo is your H. pylori treatment, and the piece that interacts here is lansoprazole, the acid-reducer, which the liver clears partly through an enzyme called CYP2C19. In lab (test tube) studies, hibiscus appeared to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more lansoprazole linger in your body. The honest part is this has never actually been seen in real people, so I'd file it as a maybe, not a real worry.

Even if it did happen, the likely result is just a touch more of lansoprazole's usual mild effects, like headache or upset stomach. A cup of tart hibiscus tea is very unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated hibiscus capsules, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Prevpac is a combo pack used to clear an H. pylori stomach infection. It bundles lansoprazole (an acid reducer), amoxicillin (an antibiotic), and clarithromycin (an antibiotic). Of these, clarithromycin is the one mainly handled by the CYP3A4 enzyme. The thinking here is that concentrated hibiscus may slow that enzyme down a little, which could in theory let clarithromycin linger a bit longer and slightly raise the odds of side effects like an upset stomach, a metallic taste, or loose stools.

Honestly, this one is very theoretical. It comes only from lab dish studies, not from real people, and it's rated minor. A cup or two of hibiscus tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, since you're on a full treatment course, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor before adding hibiscus supplements.
