Animal research shows that jambolan seed and bark extracts can lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, jambolan might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Juvisync combines two medicines: simvastatin (a cholesterol drug) and sitagliptin (a diabetes drug that helps lower blood sugar). The piece that matters here is the sitagliptin part. In animal studies, jambolan seed and bark extracts seemed to lower blood sugar on their own. So in theory, stacking a concentrated jambolan supplement on top of your sitagliptin could push your blood sugar lower than expected.

If that happened, you might notice signs of low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, headache, or feeling unusually hungry or confused. To be fair, this is based only on lab and animal data, so it's far from proven, and eating the fruit as food is unlikely to be a problem. If you want to try a supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your sugar readings.

Animal research shows that jambolan seed extract reduces the sitagliptin maximum plasma concentration and area under the curve by 39% and 22%, respectively. However, blood glucose levels were actually reduced to a greater extent in mice taking jambolan and sitagliptin in combination when compared with either product taken alone. Theoretically, jambolan seed extract might alter the clearance of sitagliptin, although this may not alter the clinical effects of sitagliptin.

Juvisync combines two medicines: simvastatin (a cholesterol drug) and sitagliptin (a diabetes drug). The interaction on file involves the sitagliptin piece. In animal studies, jambolan seed extract lowered how much sitagliptin reached the bloodstream by roughly 20 to 40 percent. On paper that sounds like less drug working, but in those same animals blood sugar actually dropped a bit more when both were used together, likely because jambolan has its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect.

So the realistic concern isn't a weaker drug, it's that your blood sugar could run lower than expected (think shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded). This is only animal data, so it's far from certain. Food amounts of the fruit are unlikely to matter, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated jambolan supplements.
