Why this applies to Aspirin, Hydrocodone

Aspirin, Hydrocodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jequirity interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that constituents of jequirity beans can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, jequirity might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Your medication combines aspirin (a blood thinner that keeps platelets from clumping) with hydrocodone (an opioid pain reliever). The concern here is really about the aspirin part. In lab studies only, compounds from jequirity beans appeared to slow platelet activity too. Stack that on top of aspirin and, in theory, you could see a little more bleeding risk, like easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical worry based on test-tube research, not real patient cases. Beyond that, jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous and simply should not be taken at all. Please don't use this plant, and check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.

Aspirin, Hydrocodone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Before anything else, please know that jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous. They contain abrin, a toxin in the same family as ricin, and there is no safe supplement form. The drug interaction is honestly the smaller worry here.

That said, here is what the file shows. In a lab dish, jequirity extract slowed down CYP3A4, one of the enzymes that helps clear the hydrocodone part of your medicine. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let hydrocodone build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing. But this is only test-tube evidence, rated as unlikely and minor, so we don't really know it happens in people. The aspirin side isn't affected this way. Either way, never use jequirity, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.
