Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine, Pyrilamine
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine, Pyrilamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Let me be straight with you here. The first thing to know is that jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous and should never be taken as a supplement at all, so the real concern is the toxin, not this drug combo. That said, the interaction on file is a theoretical one. In lab tests only, jequirity extract appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps clear several of the ingredients in this cold and allergy combo.
If that slowdown happened in a real person, these medicines could build up a bit and you might notice stronger side effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping. But this is only test-tube data, rated unlikely and minor, so don't be alarmed. Please just check with your pharmacist or doctor before using either one.
