Why this applies to Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen

Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jequirity interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that constituents of jequirity beans can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, jequirity might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to know about Vicoprofen: the ibuprofen part is an NSAID, and NSAIDs already nudge up your bleeding risk a little by making platelets (your blood's clotting cells) less sticky. In lab studies, compounds from jequirity beans also slow platelets down. So stacking them together could, in theory, make bleeding or bruising more likely. Think easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation that bleeds.

That said, this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, not real patients, so I don't want to alarm you. The bigger issue is that jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous and shouldn't be taken at all. Please don't use it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor about anything you're combining with Vicoprofen.

Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Let me be straight with you: the most important thing here isn't the drug interaction at all. Jequirity seeds contain abrin, a potent poison similar to ricin, and there is no safe supplement dose. Please don't take it. That alone is the headline.

As for the interaction itself, the hydrocodone part of Vicoprofen is partly broken down by an enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest jequirity may slow that enzyme, which could in theory let hydrocodone build up a bit, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing. But this is only test-tube evidence, rated unlikely and minor, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you ever have questions about your pain medicine, your pharmacist or doctor is happy to help.

Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.
