Lofexidine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

First, the big picture: jequirity seeds contain abrin, a severe plant poison, so this isn't something you should ever swallow as a supplement in the first place. That safety concern far outweighs any drug interaction talk.

On the interaction itself, your body clears lofexidine (Lucemyra) partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab-dish studies suggest jequirity extract can slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let lofexidine build up a bit, which might exaggerate its usual effects like low blood pressure, a slow heartbeat, dizziness, drowsiness, or dry mouth. Keep in mind this is only test-tube evidence, rated minor and unlikely, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Either way, please don't use jequirity, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Brand name: Lucemyra

Lofexidine tablets — sold under the brand name Lucemyra, as well as under the generic names lofexidine and lofexidine hydrochloride — are approved for adults to help manage the physical symptoms of opioid withdrawal when opioids are stopped suddenly.

It is not a treatment for opioid use disorder on its own. It is meant to be used as part of a broader, comprehensive treatment program.
