Here's something a lot of folks don't realize about glimepiride (Amaryl): it can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight on its own. Masterwort contains plant compounds called furanocoumarins that do the very same thing. So this isn't about your blood sugar control changing. It's that putting the two together may stack up the sun sensitivity, making it easier to get a sunburn, rash, or skin irritation after time outdoors.

I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these compounds behave, not on strong human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution. Still, if you choose to use masterwort, be smart with sunscreen, hats, and shade, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Glimepiride Used For?

Brand name: Amaryl

Glimepiride tablets are used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with a healthy diet and regular exercise — it is not a replacement for those habits.

Glimepiride is not intended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones). It would not be effective in those situations.
