Here's the gist with rooibos and rabeprazole. Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear rabeprazole from your system. In test-tube studies, a concentrated rooibos extract slowed that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, rabeprazole could linger a bit longer and its effects could be slightly stronger. That might mean a touch more in the way of headache, nausea, or stomach upset, though rabeprazole is generally a well-tolerated medication.

The important part: this is theoretical and based only on lab work, not on people. A regular cup or two of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated extracts are the bigger question mark, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those.

Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear rabeprazole (Aciphex). In lab dishes, a concentrated rooibos extract slowed that enzyme down. If that happened in a person, rabeprazole could hang around a bit longer and its effects could feel slightly stronger. With this acid reducer, that might mean more of its usual mild side effects, like headache, stomach upset, or diarrhea.

The important part: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not real patients. A regular cup of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
