Why this applies to Aspirin, Oxycodone

Aspirin, Oxycodone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tianeptine interacts with.

Tianeptine has sedative effects; high doses may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Higher doses of tianeptine have opioid like effects and may have additive effects with other sedative drugs. In one case report, a 42-year-old male presented with respiratory depression and aspiration pneumonia due to concomitant use of high-dose tianeptine and alprazolam.

Percodan combines oxycodone, an opioid pain reliever, with aspirin. Here the concern is really about the oxycodone half. Oxycodone already slows your breathing and makes you sleepy. Tianeptine, especially in the high doses found in those 'gas station' products, can act like an opioid too. Stacking them can pile on, so you may get extra drowsiness, slowed breathing, low blood pressure, or, in the worst case, an overdose that stops you from breathing.

This is graded as a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, but a real case report did show dangerous breathing trouble when tianeptine was mixed with another sedative. I'd urge you not to combine these, and please talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Chronic use of aspirin might increase the levels and clinical effects of tianeptine.
Aspirin is converted to salicylic acid in the body. In vitro research shows that salicylic acid binds to the same protein sites as tianeptine, displacing protein-bound tianeptine and leading to higher levels of tianeptine in the blood.

Here's the situation with Percodan (a combo of aspirin and oxycodone) and tianeptine. The aspirin part of this pill turns into salicylic acid in your body. In lab studies, that salicylic acid competes for the same protein parking spots in your blood that tianeptine uses. The worry is that with steady, regular aspirin use, tianeptine could get bumped loose and rise to higher free levels than expected.

I'll be honest, this is based on test-tube research only, so how much it matters in real people isn't clear. But tianeptine at higher levels can act opioid-like, and you'd be stacking that on top of the oxycodone already in Percodan. That raises the risk of heavy sedation, slowed breathing, and overdose. Tianeptine sold over the counter is genuinely dangerous, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything.
