Aprocitentan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Aprocitentan (Tryvio) is a newer medication used to help bring down stubborn high blood pressure. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine content, may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. When you put the two together, the concern is simple: their effects could stack up and push your blood pressure down more than intended.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or a little unsteady when you stand up quickly. I want to be honest though, this interaction is mostly theoretical and based on lab and animal work, so it's more of a caution than an alarm. Before adding tree turmeric, check in with your pharmacist or doctor, and if you do use it, keep an eye on your blood pressure at home.

What Is Aprocitentan Used For?

Brand name: Tryvio

Tryvio is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. It is specifically for people whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on other blood pressure medications — it is always used together with at least one other antihypertensive drug, not on its own.

Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. Tryvio has not been studied as a standalone treatment and is not intended to replace other blood pressure medicines.
