Omeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Turkey Tail Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, the polysaccharide peptide (PSP) component of turkey tail mushroom might inhibit CYP2C9.
Laboratory research suggests that the PSP component of turkey tail mushroom dose-dependently inhibits CYP2C9. Theoretically, taking PSP with drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 might increase drug levels and the risk of adverse effects. However, this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: a compound in turkey tail called PSP may slow down a liver enzyme (CYP2C9) that helps clear omeprazole from your body. In theory, that could let omeprazole linger a bit longer and build up slightly, which might mean a touch more of the usual effects or side effects (think headache, stomach upset, gas, or diarrhea). Omeprazole is not a prodrug, so an enzyme slowdown would gently nudge its levels up, not down.

The important part: this is only laboratory data and has never actually been reported in real people, so it's rated as minor. For most folks it's unlikely to cause trouble. Still, since you're combining the two, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.

What Is Omeprazole Used For?

Omeprazole is used to treat a range of conditions where stomach acid causes problems. These include heartburn and acid reflux (GERD), erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from acid), and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It can also be used alongside antibiotics to help get rid of an H. pylori infection — a bacteria that causes ulcers.

In more serious cases, omeprazole is used to manage conditions where the stomach produces far too much acid, such as pathologic hypersecretory conditions (rare medical disorders that cause extreme acid overproduction). It is approved for adults and children one year of age and older for GERD and erosive esophagitis.
