Theoretically, Pelargonium sidoides might decrease the effectiveness of immunosuppressant therapy.

Here's the idea behind this one. Sarilumab (Kevzara) works by calming down part of your immune system to ease rheumatoid arthritis pain, swelling, and stiffness. Umckaloabo, on the other hand, has been shown in lab dishes to do the opposite, meaning it may give the immune system a little nudge to be more active. In theory, those two goals could work against each other and make Kevzara a touch less effective at controlling your joint symptoms.

I want to be honest with you, though: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, not on real patients taking both. We don't have proof it actually causes a problem. Still, since both affect the immune system, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or rheumatologist before adding Umckaloabo.

Umckaloabo is a root extract from a South African geranium that is most studied for short-term relief of acute bronchitis and other respiratory infections. Some clinical research suggests it may help symptoms resolve a bit faster, but the quality of evidence is mixed and it is not a cure. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a chronic illness.

About Sarilumab Injection

What Is Sarilumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Kevzara

Kevzara (sarilumab) injection is approved for three conditions. In adults, it treats moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) when at least one other disease-modifying drug hasn't worked well enough or caused intolerance. It also treats polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) in adults who haven't responded adequately to corticosteroids or who can't tolerate tapering them.

Kevzara is also approved for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) — a form of childhood arthritis — but only in patients who weigh 63 kg (about 139 lbs) or more. It is not approved for pediatric patients below that weight due to the lack of an appropriate dosage form.
