Beta-Glucan Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Beta-Glucan against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Beta-Glucan by Earthborn Elements
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: beta-glucan, a type of fiber derived from yeast and mushrooms. It's included in a gelatin capsule.
Beta-glucans are a soluble fiber that your body processes through the digestive system. The capsule itself is an inactive ingredient—just the container.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Beta-glucan is rated Likely Effective for two uses: lowering cholesterol levels (dyslipidemia) and supporting heart health in people with coronary heart disease. The evidence here is solid enough that we can say it probably helps with those goals.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-glucans from food are generally well tolerated. When you take a concentrated supplement instead of getting beta-glucans from food sources, though, safety data is thinner, so caution is reasonable.
In trials, oral beta-glucans have been well tolerated overall. One child in a high-dose study did develop temporary liver enzyme elevations, and topical beta-glucan cream caused mild, self-limiting skin reactions in some users.
During breastfeeding, there's little research on supplement doses, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications before taking this if you're on antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure meds) or immunosuppressants. Both interactions are Moderate severity.
Use the medication checker on this page to run your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Beta-Glucan is a well-tolerated supplement for supporting cholesterol and heart health. If you take blood pressure medication or immune-suppressing drugs, check with your pharmacist first—the interactions are moderate but real.
Pregnant or nursing? There isn't enough safety data; ask your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.

Beta-Glucan by Earthborn Elements Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Earthborn Elements Beta-Glucan may interact with certain medications, primarily those that lower blood pressure or suppress immunity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The main concern is with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications). Beta-glucans themselves can lower blood pressure in some people, so taking them alongside blood pressure drugs might push your pressure too low.
This is a Moderate-severity interaction.
Beta-glucans also have immunostimulant effects—meaning they can ramp up your immune system. If you're on immunosuppressants (drugs that deliberately dampen immunity, used after transplants or for certain autoimmune conditions), beta-glucans might work against them.
This is also Moderate severity.
Altogether, these interactions span 287 individual medications. Run your exact prescriptions through the checker below before you start.
