Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: vanadyl sulfate 10 mg, a form of the mineral vanadium. The tablet also includes inactive ingredients—calcium phosphate, vegetable cellulose, vegetable stearic acid, silica, and vegetable magnesium stearate—which are fillers and binders used to hold the tablet together.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vanadyl sulfate is likely effective for vanadium deficiency. For athletic performance, diabetes, high cholesterol (high lipid levels), and cancer, the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate how well it works.
The small clinical studies on diabetes show promise for lowering blood glucose in type 2 diabetes, but we don't have enough evidence to say it's proven.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
At doses at or below 1.8 mg daily, vanadium is generally well tolerated. Above that level, gastrointestinal side effects—abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, gas, and nausea—are most common.
At high doses taken long-term, kidney damage has been reported, though this is rare. Allergic skin reactions (itchy rash, contact dermatitis) to vanadium have been documented in people who've had prolonged exposure through medical implants or work with vanadium-containing materials.
During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information, so supplement doses should be avoided. During breastfeeding, safety is unknown, so it's best to avoid vanadium supplements.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about either situation before you take it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before using this if you take anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs (blood thinners like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel)—vanadium may increase bleeding risk. Also double-check it if you're on any diabetes medication, since vanadyl sulfate can lower blood glucose and raise the risk of hypoglycemia.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Vanadyl sulfate may be useful if you have a vanadium deficiency, but it's most relevant if you're curious about diabetes support—though the evidence isn't solid yet. If you take blood thinners or diabetes medications, you need to check with your pharmacist first.

Vanadyl Sulfate 10 mg by DC Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vanadyl Sulfate 10 mg by DC can interact with blood thinners and diabetes medications.
With anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs—like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel—vanadium may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Lab research suggests it can slow clotting time, though we don't have clinical evidence of actual bleeding events in patients.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
It may also increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with diabetes medications. Small clinical studies in people with type 2 diabetes show vanadyl sulfate can improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood glucose, so adding it to your existing diabetes drug could push your levels too low.
Altogether, these interactions span 207 individual medications. If you take any blood thinner or diabetes medication, run your exact drugs through the checker on this page before you start.

Vanadyl Sulfate
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that the sodium orthovanadate form of vanadium prolongs clotting time, likely through inhibition of thrombin and factor Xa.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
A few very small clinical studies in patients with type 2 diabetes show that the vanadyl sulfate form of vanadium increases insulin sensitivity and might lower blood glucose levels.
