Here's the gist for caffeine and adrafinil. Your liver turns adrafinil into modafinil, and modafinil may gently speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2. That same enzyme is the main one that breaks down caffeine. So in theory, taking adrafinil could clear caffeine out of your system a little faster, which might make your usual caffeine pill or coffee feel a touch weaker.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. It's based on lab data only, not real people, so the effect (if any) is probably small. The bigger practical point is that both are stimulants, so stacking them could leave you jittery, anxious, racing-hearted, or unable to sleep. If you're combining them, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the thing to know if you're taking caffeine pills (like Vivarin) along with adrafinil. Once your body turns adrafinil into modafinil, that modafinil can mildly speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Caffeine is partly broken down through that same pathway, so in theory your body might clear caffeine a little faster, leaving you with a somewhat weaker buzz than you'd expect.

Honestly, this one is on the gentle side. The effect is theoretical and the enzyme nudge is weak, so most people won't notice much. The bigger concern is stacking two stimulants together, which can leave you jittery, anxious, with a racing heart or trouble sleeping. Here's the simple version: adrafinil turns into modafinil in your liver, and modafinil acts like a wakefulness booster. Caffeine pills like Vivarin are stimulants too. So when you stack the two together, their effects can pile on top of each other. This is mostly a theoretical concern based on how both work, not something proven in big studies, but it makes good sense pharmacologically.

What might you feel? More of caffeine's usual side effects, things like a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and sometimes a bump in blood pressure. Neither one is a prodrug situation that flips the direction here, both simply add stimulation. If you take a caffeine product and are thinking about adrafinil, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
