Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can mildly speed up certain liver enzymes that process medications. The concern is that this could lower the levels of your pill's hormones, which might make it a little less reliable at preventing pregnancy.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's mostly theoretical, based on lab studies and how these drugs behave, not strong real-world data. Here's the concern with combining adrafinil and your birth control pill (the ethinyl estradiol and ethynodiol diacetate combo). Once your liver turns adrafinil into modafinil, that modafinil can mildly speed up an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is the same enzyme that helps break down the hormones in your pill. If those hormones get cleared a little faster, your contraceptive could become less reliable, and that may mean a higher chance of breakthrough bleeding or an unintended pregnancy.

This is based on how the drugs work in theory rather than strong real-world studies, so it's not a sure thing. Still, because pregnancy prevention is the whole point, I'd play it safe. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing these, since a backup method may be wise.
