Here's the gist for your birth control pill (Nordette, Microgynon and the like). Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can mildly speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which plays a small part in handling the hormones in your pill. In theory, that could lower your hormone levels a touch.

Honestly, this one is on the gentle, mostly-theoretical side, based on lab data rather than real cases. Still, anything that potentially weakens the pill matters, because the worry would be reduced contraceptive reliability and possibly some breakthrough spotting. To be safe, talk with your pharmacist or doctor. They may suggest a backup method like condoms while you sort it out.

Here's the thing to know about your birth control pill (Nordette, Microgynon, and similar combos of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol). The estrogen portion of the pill very mildly blocks an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is the same enzyme your liver uses to clear modafinil (the active form of adrafinil). In theory, that could let modafinil build up a bit more and lead to stronger effects like jitteriness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, headache, or feeling on edge.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs are processed, not something well documented in real patients. The effect is likely small. Because adrafinil is unregulated and hard on the liver, please run it past your doctor or pharmacist before mixing it with your pill.
