Quetiapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the short version: your body turns adrafinil into modafinil, and modafinil can gently speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. That same enzyme is the main one that clears quetiapine from your system. So in theory, pairing the two could push your quetiapine out a bit faster and leave less of it working in your body.

If that happened, you might notice your quetiapine doesn't control symptoms as well, things like returning anxiety, trouble sleeping, or mood changes it normally keeps steady. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than real patient cases, so it may be mild or not noticeable at all. Still, don't change your quetiapine on your own. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Quetiapine

What Is Quetiapine Used For?

Brand names: Seroquel, Dopaquel

Quetiapine treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults and certain age groups of children and adolescents. For bipolar disorder, it is approved for manic episodes (both as a stand-alone treatment and alongside lithium or divalproex) and for depressive episodes.

The extended-release form of quetiapine is also approved as add-on therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who are already taking an antidepressant. The regular tablet form is not approved for this use.
