Selexipag falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafinil might reduce the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to increase diastolic and systolic blood pressure. Retrospective analyses show that patients taking modafinil had a small but increased rate of requiring new antihypertensive drugs or increased use of antihypertensive drugs when compared with placebo.

Here's the thinking with Selexipag (Uptravi) and adrafinil. Your body turns adrafinil into modafinil, and modafinil can nudge blood pressure up a little, both the top and bottom numbers. Selexipag works in the opposite direction, relaxing the vessels in your lungs to ease the strain of pulmonary arterial hypertension. So in theory, adrafinil could work against what your medication is trying to do.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs behave, not strong real-world proof in PAH patients. Still, since you're managing a serious lung-pressure condition, I wouldn't add an unregulated supplement like this on your own. Adrafinil also carries real liver risks. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing the two.

About Selexipag

What Is Selexipag Used For?

Brand name: Uptravi

Selexipag tablets are used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group I) — a type of high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. The goal is to slow the disease from getting worse and to reduce the chances of being hospitalized because of PAH.

Uptravi (selexipag) tablets are approved for both adults and children aged 2 years and older. Uptravi for injection (intravenous) is also available for adult patients who are already on Uptravi tablets but temporarily cannot take medicine by mouth.
