ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen
Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Andrographis interacts with.
Animal and laboratory studies suggest that andrographis has antiplatelet effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing with Vicoprofen: it combines hydrocodone (a pain reliever) with ibuprofen, which is an NSAID. Ibuprofen on its own can already irritate the stomach lining and make it a little easier to bleed or bruise. Andrographis, at least in lab and animal studies, seems to have a mild blood-thinning (antiplatelet) effect of its own.
So put the two together and you may slightly raise the bleeding risk. Watch for things like easy bruising, stomach upset, dark or black stools, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. I'll be honest though, this concern comes from test-tube and animal research, not solid human studies, so the real-world risk is likely small. Still, if you take Vicoprofen regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding andrographis.

“Vicoprofen pairs hydrocodone, an opioid, with ibuprofen, an NSAID, which gives supplements two separate ways to cause trouble, and 13 of the 379 interactions on file are rated major, so this page deserves a careful read rather than a skim. The biggest patterns are bleeding and sedation: more than 200 of these ingredients can add to ibu…”

- Common cold and flu symptoms
- Upper respiratory infections
- Sore throat
- Fever
- Immune support
- Digestive complaints
Andrographis is a bitter Asian herb traditionally used for colds, flu, and infections, and some studies suggest it may ease cold symptoms and shorten how long they last.
