Here's the thing about Satralizumab (Enspryng): it works by calming down a specific part of your immune system to protect the nerves and spinal cord in NMOSD. Andrographis appears to do the opposite in lab studies, meaning it may gently rev up immune activity. So in theory, taking the herb could work against what your medication is trying to accomplish.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes only from test tube and animal research, not from people taking these two together. We don't have real-world proof it causes problems. Still, since your treatment is keeping a serious autoimmune condition in check, I'd loop in your neurologist or pharmacist before adding andrographis rather than risk undercutting your therapy.

What Is Satralizumab-mwge Injection Used For?

  • Satralizumab-mwge injection is used to treat neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD; an autoimmune disorder of the nervous system that affects eye nerves and the spinal cord) in certain adults. Satralizumab-mwge is in a class of medications called interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor inhibitors. It works by blocking the activity of the part of the immune system that may damage certain areas of the nervous system in people with NMOSD.
