Here's the honest picture with Koselugo (selumetinib) and andrographis. The concern on file isn't about how your body processes the drug. Instead, andrographis itself may have a mild blood-thinning, anti-clotting effect in lab and animal studies. Selumetinib can also lower platelet counts and cause bleeding or easy bruising as a known side effect, so the worry is that the two together might add up and raise your bleeding risk a bit.

I want to be fair though: this is theoretical and based only on lab and animal data, not real people taking both. So don't panic. Just watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and please run this herb past your child's oncology team or pharmacist before adding it.

What Is Selumetinib Used For?

Brand name: Koselugo

Koselugo (selumetinib) is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older who have neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) — a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue — when they also have symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas (large, deep nerve tumors that cannot be surgically removed and are causing problems).

Both the Koselugo capsule and Koselugo oral granule formulations are approved for this use. The oral granule form is intended for patients who have difficulty swallowing whole capsules.
