ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS

Chlorothiazide, Methyldopa falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.
Animal research suggests that ashwagandha might lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Theoretically, ashwagandha might have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypotension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Aldoclor combines two blood-pressure lowerers: chlorothiazide (a water pill) and methyldopa. Ashwagandha may gently lower blood pressure on its own, so the worry here is simple addition. Put them together and your pressure could dip lower than intended, leaving you feeling lightheaded, dizzy, weak, or unsteady, especially when you stand up quickly.
I want to be honest about the evidence: this is mostly based on animal studies, not solid human research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, methyldopa already tends to cause drowsiness and dizziness, so I'd rather you be aware. If you take ashwagandha, watch how you feel and consider checking your blood pressure at home. Ashwagandha has been linked to cases of acute hepatitis, liver failure, hepatic encephalopathy, autoimmune hepatitis, the need for liver transplantation, and death due to liver failure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with combining ashwagandha and Aldoclor (which pairs chlorothiazide, a water pill, with methyldopa, a blood pressure medicine). This isn't about ashwagandha changing how the drugs work. It's about your liver. Methyldopa is one of the medicines that can occasionally stress or inflame the liver, and ashwagandha has been tied to rare but real cases of liver injury. Stacking two things that can both bother the liver may add up.
To be fair, this is a theoretical caution based on how each works, not proven cases of the combo. Still, watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting ashwagandha.
