Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. The chlordiazepoxide part of Librax (a benzodiazepine) is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In test tube studies, bacopa may slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened in your body, the chlordiazepoxide could build up slightly, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, grogginess, or unsteadiness. The clidinium piece could add to that with dry mouth or constipation.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on lab work, and the studies even disagree with each other. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just let your pharmacist or doctor know you're taking bacopa, and watch for extra sleepiness, especially when you first combine them.

Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels, which could counteract the effects of anticholinergic drugs. Similarly, anticholinergic drugs might counteract the cholinergic effects of bacopa.

Here's the gist with Librax and bacopa. The clidinium part of Librax is an anticholinergic, meaning it works by lowering the activity of a brain and gut chemical called acetylcholine to calm stomach spasms and cramps. Bacopa is thought to nudge acetylcholine in the opposite direction, so on paper the two could partly cancel each other out. That might mean clidinium doesn't quiet your gut symptoms as well, and bacopa's intended memory effects could be blunted too.

I want to be honest that this concern is theoretical, based on how each works rather than real-world reports, so it may not amount to much for you. The chlordiazepoxide (a calming benzodiazepine) piece isn't really the issue here. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Chlordiazepoxide and clidinium capsules are used to help control both the physical and emotional factors involved in gastrointestinal (digestive) disorders. This includes use as add-on therapy for peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome (also called irritable colon, spastic colon, or mucous colitis), and acute enterocolitis (sudden inflammation of the intestines).

Librax is one brand available in capsule form and is approved for the same set of gastrointestinal uses.
