Mirtazapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist for mirtazapine (Remeron): one of the enzymes your liver uses to clear it is called CYP1A2. In test-tube studies, bacopa appears to mildly slow this enzyme down. If that happened in your body, mirtazapine could clear a bit slower and build up slightly, which might nudge up its usual effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, increased appetite, or weight gain.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is theoretical and comes only from lab work, with conflicting results, so we don't know it actually matters in real people. Mirtazapine is an active drug (not a product that needs activating), so the direction would be toward a stronger effect, not weaker. If you take both, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and watch for extra sleepiness.

Here's the gist for these two together. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear mirtazapine, and lab studies hint that bacopa might mildly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, a little more mirtazapine could linger in your system, which might bump up its usual effects like daytime drowsiness, grogginess, increased appetite, or weight gain.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It comes only from test-tube and animal research, and even those results disagree with each other. There's no solid human evidence that it causes problems. Mirtazapine is also not a prodrug, so it doesn't get flipped the other way. Still, if you take both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on extra sleepiness.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. What Is Mirtazapine Used For?

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
