Prochlorperazine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, concurrent use might decrease the effectiveness of both agents.
Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels, which could counteract the effects of anticholinergic drugs. Similarly, anticholinergic drugs might counteract the cholinergic effects of bacopa.

Here's the gist with bacopa and prochlorperazine (Compazine). Prochlorperazine has some anticholinergic activity, meaning part of how it works involves blocking the brain chemical acetylcholine. Bacopa is thought to do the opposite, nudging acetylcholine levels up. So in theory, the two could work against each other and slightly blunt how well each one does its job. For prochlorperazine, that might mean a touch less nausea control or a little less benefit if you're taking it for other reasons.

I'd keep this in perspective, though. This concern comes from how the two might behave based on pharmacology, not from real patient studies, so it's pretty theoretical. Most people won't notice anything. If your nausea isn't being controlled as well as usual, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. It is generally well tolerated but can cause stomach upset, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.

What Is Prochlorperazine Used For?

Brand names: Prochlor, Compazine

Prochlorperazine is used across several forms and products to control severe nausea and vomiting in adults. It is also used to treat schizophrenia. Prochlorperazine tablets (Prochlorperazine, Prochlorperazine Maleate) are additionally approved for the short-term treatment of generalized non-psychotic anxiety — though they are not the first-choice treatment for anxiety, given their risk profile.

Compro rectal suppositories and Prochlorperazine rectal suppositories are specifically indicated for controlling severe nausea and vomiting in adults. Prochlorperazine Edisylate injection is approved for severe nausea and vomiting and for schizophrenia, but it is not approved for dementia-related psychosis.
