Sunitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist for Sunitinib (Sutent): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this medicine. In lab dish studies, bacopa appears to mildly slow that same enzyme. If that happened in your body, sunitinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which in theory might mean more of its usual side effects, things like fatigue, high blood pressure, mouth sores, diarrhea, or hand and foot skin reactions.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is theoretical and comes from test-tube research, with conflicting results, so we don't know it matters in real people. Still, sunitinib is a serious cancer drug with a narrow safety margin, so please don't add bacopa without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. What Is Sunitinib Used For?

Brand name: Sutent

Sunitinib malate capsules and Sutent capsules are both approved to treat adult patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) after the cancer has progressed on or could not be tolerated with imatinib mesylate. Both are also used for advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and as adjuvant (preventive) treatment after surgery for adults at high risk of kidney cancer coming back. Additionally, both treat progressive, well-differentiated pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET) that cannot be surgically removed or have spread.
