Propafenone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist for propafenone (Rythmol). Your liver uses several enzymes to clear this heart-rhythm drug, and one of them is called CYP1A2. In lab tests, bacopa might slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened in your body, propafenone could build up and hit harder than expected. With a rhythm medicine, that's worth respecting, since too much can cause dizziness, a slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, or even new rhythm problems.

That said, the evidence here is weak and comes only from test-tube studies, and the findings actually conflict. So this is more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Before adding bacopa, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. It is generally well tolerated but can cause stomach upset, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.

About Propafenone

What Is Propafenone Used For?

Brand names: Rythmol, Arythmol

Propafenone is used to help control abnormal heart rhythms. It is prescribed to delay the return of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (episodic irregular heartbeats in the upper chambers) and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT, sudden fast heartbeats starting above the heart's lower chambers) — but only in people who do not have structural heart disease.

It is also used to treat life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (dangerous fast rhythms starting in the heart's lower chambers). Because of serious safety concerns, it is not recommended for minor or non-life-threatening heart rhythm problems.
