Gliclazide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cajeput Oil interacts with.

Animal studies suggest that cajeput oil might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking cajeput oil with antidiabetes drugs could increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, and others.

Here's the gist with gliclazide: it's a sulfonylurea, which means its whole job is to push your pancreas to release more insulin, and that already brings your blood sugar down. The concern on file is that cajeput oil may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect, so stacking the two could add up and drop your glucose lower than intended (low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia).

If that happened, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or suddenly very hungry. I'll be honest though, this warning rests only on lab and animal data, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Please don't swallow essential oils, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using cajeput oil and keep an eye on your readings.
