Captopril, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, a clinical study suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also reduce blood pressure.

Your Capozide already does two jobs to lower blood pressure: the captopril relaxes your blood vessels, and the hydrochlorothiazide helps your body shed extra salt and water. The concern with Corydalis yanhusuo is that some of its compounds (like berberine) may nudge blood pressure down too. Stacked on top of your medication, that extra lowering effect could add up.

If your blood pressure dips too low, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when standing up quickly. To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on lab and animal work, not strong human studies, so it may never cause you any trouble. Still, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them, and keep an eye on your readings if you do.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
