Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the simple version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear lansoprazole. Corydalis contains berberine, which lab studies suggest can mildly slow that enzyme down. If it does, a bit more lansoprazole could linger in your system. In plain terms, the medication might hang around a little longer than usual.

For most people this is unlikely to cause trouble, since lansoprazole is generally well tolerated. At most you might notice things like headache, an upset stomach, or diarrhea. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on lab work rather than real patient cases, so I wouldn't be alarmed. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

What Is Lansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Prevacid

Lansoprazole is prescribed for a range of conditions where excess stomach acid is the problem. It treats active stomach and duodenal ulcers (sores in the stomach or upper small intestine), helps heal ulcers caused by NSAID pain relievers, and can reduce the risk of those ulcers coming back.

It's also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and rare conditions where the stomach makes far too much acid — like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When combined with antibiotics, it helps wipe out H. pylori bacteria that cause recurring ulcers.
